When the fleet was in

Two beams stand like

sentinels to the 1930s,

one with a hook still attached.

Artefacts of the days when

herring and cod were plentiful

and the fleet extended right across

the harbours of the East Neuk.

A throwback to the 19th Century

net lofts within the Salmon Bothies

that dotted the coast.

My fish loft is empty now of

creels, repairs and net bundles.

It's a space for writing, catching words

and dreams.
